I am currently invested in studying multiple aspects of the Catholic sex abuse crisis including how figures in positions of power have responded to the crisis over time and how those figures have been influenced by others, specifically women, in their decisions. I'm interested in the role gender has played in the responses coming from the Vatican, how women have been used or utilized in efforts to appease critics and help survivors, and the ways in which the Church has exploited particularly isolated areas, such as Native-American reservations, to keep recidivist abusers out of the public eye.
